What I’m Bringing Back from India:

My perspective shifted.

My appreciation for life expanded.

My urgency for change-making deepened.

My compassion and patience tested.

My soul explored.

My zest for life maintained.

All in all, the lessons I learned will be with me forever and I will always look back on my time in India with a smile and a deep love for a country I still struggle to comprehend completely.

Paragliding is nonmotorized, foot-launched flying with an inflatable wing. Using air currents and shifting your own body weight, you can easily fly to heights of about 15,000 feet!

This is my advice to myself.

I hope to look back on this often and live up to every single word of it.

1. Follow your heart.
2. Kindness is the most valuable asset in the world. It’s also free.
3. We all say I too many times a day.
4. Be gutsy. Be bold.
5. Work you’re passionate about doing never feels like work.
6. Blame is toxic and whining is annoying. Forgive. Take Responsibility.
7. Everyone has an incredible life story. Everyone also loves to talk about themselves. Take advantage of that fact. Ask, listen, and learn.
8. People are inherently good.
9. Embracing new challenges is scary, but so is everything worthwhile. Getting out of the usual routine can teach you a lot.
10. Sharing good books is wonderful. When you finish one, leave a note, and leave it somewhere for someone else to find.
11. Having heroes and mentors is the best way to learn. Never be ashamed of admiring someone. Reach out and connect.
12. Rush head first into new ideas. Ideas are nothing without action.
13. Laughter heals. Joy is contagious. Excitement is energizing.
14. Giving is more rewarding than receiving.
15. Success is unlimited, not a pie that you need to grab a slice of before it runs out. Personal success doesn’t have to mean taking some from someone else. Helping others succeed does not hinder your own success.
16. You don’t need permission to live the life you love.
17. Our lives are made up of choices. The choices we make define our lives.
18. Transparency is key. Honesty and integrity are everything.
19. Sometimes being the revelation someone is looking for is exactly the kind of revelation you need. However, beware of aiming to please. Stay true to yourself.
20. As important as saving trees and going green are, there’s something magical about putting pen to paper.
21. Questioning things like a child saves us from being drawn into lies.
22. Insecurity is a huge waste of time.
23. Flexibility and open-mindedness are important aspects of happiness… and sanity.
24. You won the lottery being born in a 1st world country. You never had to struggle for clean water, electricity, education, or safety. Use your voice.
25. Opportunities breed more opportunities. Success begets more success.
26. Reaching out to successful people is not as scary as it seems. People are just people. Remember that.
27. Price is not the same as value.
28. When work is more fun and interesting than watching TV, you know you’re on to something.
29. Letting go is necessary to move forward. It is also one of the hardest things to do.
30. Selfishness and selflessness have the tendency to overlap.
31. Learning something new is never a chore if you’re excited about it.
32. Lots of people claim to strive for an extraordinary life but, when push comes to shove, they are too afraid to act.
33. Everybody wants different things. Assuming they want the same things as you is egocentric. Appreciate and seek out other perspectives.
34. Possessions weigh you down. You don’t need as much as you think you do.
35. Genuine interest in other people cannot be faked.
36. There is no such thing as the perfect time or perfect place to do something. There is only right now, so dive in.
37. Scars are excellent keepsakes. They are proof of risk-taking or clumsiness, both of which you can learn from.
38. People who look at things and mutter “not impressed” are vain and stupid. Seeing the excitement in the little things is part of a life well lived.
39. Respect is the essence of a great relationship.
40. Never be neutral. Never shove your ideas down someone else’s throat, either.
41. Your problems are not unique. Someone, somewhere, is going through the same thing. You will both get through it.
42. Everyone out there can be as remarkable as they choose.

Riding the trails, we saw a few deer, bear tracks, and countless squirrels. The scenery was breathtaking and I felt like a real-life cowgirl.

Dating back to 19 BCE and located in the center of the Old City of Jerusalem. It  is a religious site, drawing countless pilgrims to write their deepest wishes on a note and place it into the ancient cracks and to pray. Although it is filled with deep religious meaning, being a non-religious person and visiting this truly amazing place was still absolutely incredible.

Think about it.

Each person walks up to the wall, writes down their deepest desires, prayers, and feelings; their honest wishes for their individual lives or for the world; folds the paper up into a tiny sheet, and shoves it deep into the crevice of a 2000+ year old ancient structure.

It is really remarkable to say the least.
